EMDR therapy breaks the chains of memories from childhood, family, work, and just living in an imperfect world where hurt and pain are real.
EMDR may be right for you if…
You feel in your body or mind that something from the past still sticks with you.
You rationally understand that what happened was scary or painful, but that hasn’t made it better.
You always feel on edge - waiting for something to happen.
You carry feelings of shame, guilt, or anxiety that don’t make sense, but you can’t shake it.
You wonder if you can ever feel safe in your body again.
You’re ready to go above and beyond the processing you’ve done before, to finally get real and lasting healing.

Meet Your Round Rock
EMDR Therapist
Hi, I’m Lia, a Licensed Professional Counselor trained in EMDR for adults who are ready to finally heal. Maybe you’ve used talk therapy and found that it’s a powerful tool, but are ready for something more.
EMDR helps access memories stored in a dysfunctional way. We use emotions, sensations, images - and sometimes words - to access these memories and do the work of reprocessing.
I am still baffled by the power of this method to help clients get “unstuck” from even the most stubborn memories. I know what it’s like to find freedom after spending years carrying pain. My own experience with EMDR helps make me a believer in this important work, and ready to share it with clients who seek the same freedom.
As someone who loves words, it takes something special to convince me to move beyond traditional talk therapy. Through the work of EMDR, healing is waiting and is within reach.
If you’re ready to heal your nervous system and find relief, it would be my privilege to work with you.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR helps your brain and body safely reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel stuck or produce disturbance. Through gentle, guided techniques like bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sounds), EMDR allows your nervous system to release old trauma and make space for new, more positive and grounded beliefs. EMDR therapy has 8 phases:
History Taking: We get to know your story and what you'd like to work on.
Preparation: We also call this phase “resourcing.” You’ll learn calming tools and grounding techniques to help you feel safe and supported.
Assessment: We identify the pertinent target memories and the thoughts, feelings, and body sensations connected to them. We choose one to start with and focus on that one.
Desensitization: Using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping), we begin processing the memory so it feels less distressing.
Installation: We strengthen a positive belief to replace the old, limiting one tied to the memory.
Body Scan: We check in with your body to notice and release any leftover tension or activation.
Closure: Each session ends with grounding and care to make sure you leave feeling stable and supported.
Reevaluation: We check in at the next session to make sure the shifts are sticking and continue the work.
-
Not at all. You can share to the level of detail that you’re comfortable with, but the “magic” happens in the bilateral stimulation. You’ll be asked to simply notice what comes up during sets of eye movements. The process is gentle and safe and always moves at your pace.

After we have completed history taking and identified your target memories, we will spend time doing sets of eye movements (or using tones or tapping) for bilateral stimulation. Many clients experience this as an intense experience that brings great relief. Afterwards, it is normal to feel tired, so I often remind clients to rest and hydrate for the rest of the day.
-
This depends a lot on the level of disturbance of the memory and how quickly this disturbance dissipates through bilateral stimulation. Some memories are reprocessed in one session, while some take longer.

I accept private pay only. My fee is $150 per 50-minute session. I will gladly provide a superbill, or itemized receipt, for all sessions if you would like to file for partial reimbursement from your insurance company.
